Brooks details 'Zombie Survival Guide'

Writer Max Brooks has revealed details of his graphic novel project Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks.

In an interview with CNN, the author explained that the book chronicles zombie outbreaks during historic events, and sees Romans, cavemen, African slaves and ninjas take on the undead with varying success.

"When I wrote Zombie Survival Guide, I always wanted to come back to the historic attacks at the end of the book," said Brooks. "More than a zombie nerd or a science fiction nerd, I'm a history nerd. I was a history major in college - history is probably the only subject that allowed me to graduate high school."

The book will be illustrated by Brazilian artist Ibraim Roberson, who has previously worked for Marvel on Dark X-Men and Gambit.

"He's head and shoulders above most people illustrating today," Brooks added. "The book itself is unique and I wanted a unique look. His artwork is unlike anything else I've ever seen, zombies or otherwise... He's so meticulous."

The author originally published Zombie Survival Guide as a tongue-in-cheek manual in 2003. His novel World War Z: An Oral History Of The Zombie War is currently being adapted for the big screen.

Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks is available now.
