DC announces new ongoing 'Spirit' series
Published Tuesday, Oct 27 2009, 09:13 GMT | By Hugh Armitage

The Spirit will follow on from DC's forthcoming Brian Azzarello-penned First Wave miniseries, and will be written by Mark Schultz (Prince Valiant).
"We're really excited about his involvement in the series, as is the Eisner estate," DiDio told Newsarama. "They're really excited to have someone of Mark's calibre taking on the new Spirit book."
He explained that the new series would be set in the First Wave universe - a place devoid of super-powered heroes.
"There are some subtle changes to the story and attitude of this character. Those will be set up during the First Wave miniseries, but we'll see it played out in The Spirit ongoing when it launches."
DC is also planning a new, ongoing Doc Savage title set in the First Wave universe.
