Way, who writes the monthly comic and co-writes Dark Wolverine with Marjorie Liu, admitted that he has had an ending planned for some time.
He told CBR: "The original plan was for Origins to run 60 issues.
"But with Daken breaking out on his own, in his own book, I've been able to accelerate that pace."
Wolverine’s son Daken has featured in his own ongoing title since Wolverine was renamed Dark Wolverine with #75.
It is not clear whether the series will revert to Wolverine when the Dark Reign storyline concludes in 2010, but Liu promised fans: "Daken isn't going to disappear anytime soon."
Wolverine: Origins #42 is out November 18. Dark Wolverine #80 is out November 25.
