'Solipsistic Pop' launches at Comiket
Published Friday, Nov 6 2009, 08:49 GMT | By Hugh Armitage
British alternative anthology Solipsistic Pop will launch this weekend at the Comiket small press fair.
Solipsistic Pop is a biannual anthology designed to showcase the best in alternative comic talent from the UK.
"There isn't a proper distribution network for alternative comics in this country," Solipsistic Pop creator and editor Tom Humberstone told Digital Spy.
"We want to create a support infrastructure to promote alternative comics. The alternative scene is so disparate - Solipsistic Pop is all about bringing people together."
Solipsistic Pop includes a pull-out newspaper-style supplement and two mini-comics and an introduction by comics writer Kieron Gillen (Phonogram, S.W.O.R.D.).
"We want to show that print is not dead," said Humberstone. "Comics feel better when you can hold them in your hand and smell them."
Solipsistic Pop volume one will be launched on Sunday November 8 at Comiket, a part of the London international comics festival ComICA.
The anthology will go on sale next week.
