Arcana launches comics magazine
Published Wednesday, Nov 11 2009, 04:04 GMT | By Mark Langshaw

Simply titled Arcana, the publication will be released quarterly from January next year. It is a redesigned print version of the online comics-based website Extra Sequential.
"The thing that has always seemed odd to me is that comics continually reveal diverse art from some of the world's greatest artists, but few people outside of the local comic book shop will ever know that," said co-founder Kris Bather.
"Sure, a multitude of people are more familiar with Spider-Man and Batman thanks to Hollywood, but that seems to rarely translate to an increase in regular readership of comics. We hope Arcana can be somewhat of a bridge for those readers as well as show something new to long-time lovers of sequential art."
Arcana will feature profiles of comic book professions, features and previews. The first issue includes an interview with Star Wars: Invasion scribe Tom Taylor, artist Josh Medors, Singaporean writer Edmund Shern and Surrogates creator Robert Venditti, among other articles.
Arcana #1 is released on January 27, 2010.
