'Squad' one-shot spawns 'Six' story
DC's Suicide Squad 'return from the dead' one-shot will kick off a three-part Secret Six storyline.

Suicide Squad #67 - one of a series of new final issues released as 'Blackest Night' tie-ins in January - is unique in being the only story that will spill over into another title.

Secret Six writer Gail Simone and former Suicide Squad scribe John Ostrander will continue their recent collaboration into the crossover.

"I really enjoy being part of the big mega-stories," Simone told Newsarama. "I always find it really fun to find the right piece of the puzzle, like our off-beat Battle For The Cowl tie-in, or the first Villains United mini.

"And I've said it before, but 'Blackest Night' might be my favourite big crossover story since the original Crisis. It's really kind of an astounding story, and it has a lot of the nasty things I love to write."

"I don't want to spill the beans too much about the Homicide Squad (as Gail dubbed it)," added Ostrander. "I will note that the Six and the Squad are so busy fighting amongst themselves that it's tough to get them to work together against the Dead.

"Lordy, there's a lot of fighting going on."

Simone has recently been at the forefront of a drive to raise money to pay for Ostrander's medical bills. The industry veteran suffers from glaucoma and is at risk of going blind.

Sucide Squad #67 and the following Secret Six issues will be illustrated by Jim Calafiore (Batgirl).
