Marvel previews Gillen, Tan's 'Thor'

Marvel Comics has released a preview of Thor #604, the first issue of the title produced by Kieron Gillen and Billy Tan.

The six pages previewed on Newsarama show the Asgardian storm goddess Kelda confront Victor von Doom, ruler of the kingdom of Latveria where the Norse gods recently relocated.

Gillen (Phonogram, S.W.O.R.D.) will take over writing duties from J. Michael Straczynski (Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four) on the next issue of Thor, with Tan (Dark Reign: The List - Daredevil, New Avengers) on pencils.

Straczynski's last issue on the series, Thor Giant-Size Finale #1 - illustrated by Marko Djurdjevic - was released last week.

Straczynski is recognised as having reinvigorated the Thor franchise, which had grown increasingly unpopular before his new series debuted in 2007.

Thor #604 is out this week.
