The Powers artist will illustrate four issues' worth of secondary features starring the street-level hero, alongside writer Brandon Jerwa (Battlestar Galactica).
A completed page of Oeming's artwork for the feature was previewed on DC's blog The Source.
The Red Circle characters were Archie Comics properties that DC recently purchased and began integrating into its mainstream continuity last year.
"2009 was the year of the Red Circle; 2010 is the year of the Mighty Crusaders," said Red Circle editor Rachel Gluckstern. "Starting today with The Shield #5, the Jaguar and the Comet will be revealed as they encounter our man at war, the Shield and the fiery fugitive Inferno.
"This promises to be a banner year for our newest heroes, so stay tuned for more exciting news soon!”
