Marvel
The artist is best known for his collaborations with writer Peter Milligan in the '80s and '90s, but has not produced any sequential art since his issue of Solo six years ago. He has also worked on film projects, including Reboot and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies.
Fever marks McCarthy's return to comics and will run for three issues. It sees Spider-Man team up with Doctor Strange. "I always thought I could do a decent take on Dr. Strange. He's my favourite Marvel character," he told CBR.
"One of my best-loved comic stories is the 1965 Silver Age Spider-Man and Dr. Strange annual story by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Fever was inspired by that strip."
McCarthy went on to say that he has designs to follow the miniseries with a Fantastic Four story. "I'd quite like to do a good FF story sometime, as the Lee/Kirby run is still stunningly great," he added.
"I did have a pitch called 'The Fabulous Four' which was Stan Lee's original name for the group, an alternative 'take' on their origins. But let's see how this Fever series goes down with the readers."
Spider-Man: Fever debuts in April.
