According to the publisher's blog, the scribe's tenure will begin in the summer, following the release of major milestone issues of both comics.
Superman #700 and Wonder Woman #600 will arrive in stores prior to his run. Straczynski will take over writing duties from issues #701 and #601 respectively.
"That DC is willing to jump-start these two runs in the pages of their respective anniversary issues is a great opportunity and a vote of confidence in what we have planned for these characters. I'm looking forward to this with more excitement than words can convey," Straczynski said.
It was previously announced that DC's 'War Of The Superman' event will bring major changes to the series' status quo.
Straczynski's run on Superman and Wonder Woman will begin in July.
