Spider-Girl to return in May
Published Tuesday, Mar 9 2010, 07:20 GMT | By Mark Langshaw

According to the publisher, writer Tom DeFalco will reintroduce the character in May. The book will take place 15 years on in an alternate Marvel Universe.
The first issue sees the heroine go up against the Punisher. In an interview with Newsarama, DeFalco explained his motivation for bringing the anti-hero into the story.
"I thought it would be fun to pit Frank Castle against Mayday Parker. The Punisher is kind of the exact opposite of Spider-Girl in terms of motivation and philosophy. Our current gang war story also gives us a perfect reason to bring Frank out of retirement," he said.
Created by DeFalco and artist Ron Frenz, Spider-Girl made her debut in 1998 and went on to star in a solo series that became Marvel's longest-running superhero book with a lead female character.
Spectacular Spider-Girl #1 arrives in stores in May.
