DC Comics has retained Tony Daniel as writer and artist on Batman.

It was hinted by Judd Winick that he would be returning to the title after a story arc by Daniel, but solicitations have revealed that the Battle for the Cowl creator will continue to pen the series.

This week's Batman #697 promises to reveal the identity of the Black Mask, a villain Daniel previously introduced.

Daniel began illustrating the title during Grant Morrison's run.

He made his writing debut on the Batman: Battle for the Cowl miniseries that documented the events following Bruce Wayne's apparent death.
