Barrows - who is also working on the Free Comic Book Day War Of the Supermen #0 and drawing covers for the four-issue event - joins acclaimed writer J. Michael Straczynski on the comic.
The publisher has indicated that Barrows and Straczynski are planning a story for the milestone issue Superman #700 and will fully take over the series with issue #701.
DC is expected to soon reveal which artist will join Straczynski on its ongoing Wonder Woman series.
Superman #700 will be available in June.
