The publisher issued a series of teasers over the last week which appeared to be parodying Marvel Comics' recent Avengers marketing campaign.
Image suggested that Spawn, Invincible, Barack Obama, a Harry Potter lookalike and Rick Grimes from its Walking Dead comics would be teaming up in the series. However, Kirkman has now confirmed that the real line up will be unveiled next week.
"Look, these teasers - this week has been all about just trying to have fun, doing some cool stuff, getting a little bit of notice and getting the name of the book out there," he told CBR.
"Sure, I'm poking fun at Marvel a bit, but it's really all in good fun. When you get John Romita, Jr. and Stuart Immonen drawing books, I'm going to be there. I don't care who is writing it, I'm on board for that stuff."
The scribe went on to explain that the title is a spinoff of his Invincible series, written to tie in with a plotline titled 'The Viltrumite War'. Kirkman will co-write the book with Benito Cereno and artwork will be provided by Ransom Getty.
Guardians Of The Globe debuts in August.
