Released as part of the publisher's 'Forever' line, the X-Men spinoff will feature artwork from WildStorm veteran Al Rio.
The venture sees Claremont return to the comic he helped develop in the late 1980s. "As a creator, the characters always have a place in my brain," he told Newsarama.
"Think of it like just walking down the hall, and opening a door that's been closed for some time. The room is full of surprises, but old friends are there, too."
Plot details are yet to be revealed, but the scribe has confirmed that the book will feature the characters Cannonball, Magik, Magma, Sunspot and Warlock, and pick up where the original '80s series left off.
New Mutants Forever arrives in stores in August.
