Published under the firm's newly-established Boundless Comics imprint, the book will be penned by creator Brian Pulido in collaboration with Mike Wolfer.
"This is not some glossy new spin on the classic Lady Death," said Avatar founder William Christensen. "It's a relentless take on what makes the character great. This is the Death fans have been dying to see.
"Launching a separate company allows us to maintain our focus at Avatar and provide Lady Death with a spotlight at Boundless."
In addition to the new material, Boundless will re-release existing books featuring the character under the trade title Lady Death: Origins.
An official release date for the series is expected to be announced at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo this weekend.
