Artist Joshua Middleton has revealed that he is no longer interested in mainstream comic work.
Writing on his blog, the Supergirl cover designer said that he is finished with major publishers "for the foreseeable future".
"I have plenty of other stuff to keep me busy, and I want to dedicate every minute of my free time to personal work only," he wrote. "The comic book covers had to go, bringing to an end, with a whimper, ten years of mainstream comic book work-for-hire."
The move has sparked rumours that the illustrator will return to his creator-owned fairy tale Sky Between Branches, which ran for just one issue in 2002.
Middleton made a name for himself at Marvel, working on its NYX and New Mutants titles before jumping ship to DC. He is best known for his cover designs for American Virgin, Vixen: Return of the Lion and Supergirl.
