Best known for his work on Young Avengers and television shows including Sex And The City, Grey's Anatomy and The O.C., Heinberg will be providing the back-up feature with Siege artist Olivier Coipel.
"When editor Nick Lowe asked if I'd be interested in coming up with this story, I actually had some time to devote exclusively to writing comics," Heinberg told Newsarama.
"I am a big X-Men fan. In fact, I was briefly Chris Claremont's assistant back in the early '90s. He was very patient with my fanboy questions and generous with his time.
"If the X-Office will have me, I'd love to write more X-Men stories."
The story addresses the effects of the 'Second Coming' storyline's conclusion on the Young Avengers and Scarlet Witch, leading into Heinberg's forthcoming Avengers: The Children's Crusade miniseries.
The story was added after the solicitation for the issue had been released.
