Geoff Johns, DC Comics' Chief Creative Officer and current writer of Green Lantern has teased what fans can expect from the popular series moving forward.

Tony Bedard was in attendance at the San Diego Comic-Con with him, and Comic Book Resources reported that his upcoming arc on Green Lantern Corps will focus on new character, the Weaponer of Qward, in an arc which reveals the origin of supervillain Sinestro's ring.

Johns explained that an upcoming story in Green Lantern will focus on a confrontation between Hal Jordan and sole Orange Lantern Larfleez, after the villain begins terrorising a town in Minnesota.

He suggested that the recent success of the series may be due to the amount of new stories and characters they have created.

"We've introduced more new characters in Green Lantern than perhaps in any other franchise," Johns said.

He also revealed that the character of Carol Ferris will face a major life-changing situation in Green Lantern #57.

Johns promised that the fabled White Lanterns, who were introduced in the recent event Blackest Night, will be explored in greater detail over the next year.

Finally, it was announced that a new computer generated animated series of Green Lantern will be launched on Cartoon Network in November 2011.
