Based in the same universe as the publisher's previous Crossed miniseries, the first arc will be written by creators Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows. Jamie Delano will pen the second arc.
Debuting in 2008, the original miniseries follows the survivors of a zombie-like pandemic. The plague marks the faces of its victims with a red cross and has them carry out their darkest desires.
The comic was previously optioned for cinema by producer Ken F. Levin, who has enlisted the help of Kevin Spacey's Trigger Street Productions, Michael De Luca and Jason Netter to help finance the project.
An official release date for Crossed: Badlands is yet to be confirmed.
