Writer and illustrator Norm Breyfogle has claimed that he is blacklisted at Marvel and DC.

Speaking to CBR, the Archie Comics illustrator revealed why he has not worked for either of the market leaders recently.

"DC knows I'm available to them, but after they turned down ten or so proposals from me after 2001, I gave up," he said. "It was quite apparent then that they'd put me on some sort of blacklist (I don’t know why they’ve done so).

"I've also heard some things from an editor at Marvel to indicate that I'm persona non grata at Marvel, too."

However, Marvel senior vice president CB Cebulski has quashed such rumours, according to Bleeding Cool. "I have no idea who Norm was talking to at Marvel, but I can assure you that he is not persona non grata here," he responded.

"Norm is free to reach out to us to let us know he is available and to submit work to Marvel just as any other working professional is. And if he's reading this, Norm can contact me directly to talk about getting his work in front of the Marvel editors."

Breyfogle is best known for his work illustrating Batman and Detective Comics for DC. He is currently pencilling Archie Loves Betty and Archie Loves Veronica for Archie Comics.
