Answering questions on CBR's 'Cup O' Joe' blog, the publisher's vice president executive editor Tom Brevoort revealed that the group of the Marvel Universe's greatest minds is to return.
He previewed the following solicitation for Avengers #8:
"The return of the Illuminati! Marvel's super-secret braintrust has come back together again because someone is trying to put the Infinity Gauntlet back together.
"Who is it and will the Avengers be able to stop them in time? And what does any of this have to do with the Red Hulk? Plus, is there a little romance brewing?"
The Illuminati consists of Reed Richards, Charles Xavier, Dr Strange, Namor, Tony Stark and Black Bolt, who appointed themselves protectors of the Infinity Gems.
The gems are objects of immense power best known for their central role in the Infinity Gauntlet event.
