It has been confirmed that UK comic book publishing company Insomnia Publications has ceased trading.
Bleeding Cool broke the news by publishing a statement issued by publisher Crawford Coutts confirming long running suspicions that the company was in financial trouble.
"Due to cash flow issues within the business I recently formed the opinion that continuing to trade was no longer viable," Coutts's statement reads.
He goes on to blame the recession for damaging the company. "No matter how much we adapted to the changes and challenges we faced, as a small business this has been catastrophic."
It was also reported that Martin Conaghan who co-created the Burke & Hare graphic novel issued Coutts with a threat of court action over loss of earnings which was thought to have been the final issue that led to Coutts's dissolution of Insomnia.
The end of Insomnia Publications comes after a number of public disputes reported between the company and their various creators, most notably with Stevie White extracting the rights for graphic novel Milk.
Coutts ended the statement by releasing all creators associated with the company from their contracts with immediate effect.
