Jonathan Hickman has spoken about his upcoming storyline 'Three' in Fantastic Four in which it has been suggested that one of the team members will be killed off.
"When I first came up with the book I laid out a pretty extensive year plan," Hickman told Comic Book Resources about his ideas for the title. "This is the midpoint of that."
"Three will bring the worst week in the lives of the Fantastic Four," Vice President Executive Editor Tom Brevoort added. "At the end of the day where we had four of them, we're only going to have three of them."
The beginning of 'Three' will also bring a new regular artist to the title in the form of long time Captain America artist Steve Epting.
"Its certainly going to happen and it certainly has a point," Hickman said of the upcoming change in the team. "It's going to change things and I think it's going to work towards the betterment of the book."
Hickman explained that Fantastic Four mainstays such as Galactus, Doctor Doom and Namor will all be making appearances during his run on the title.
There are currently rumours that the Fantastic Four title may be cancelled at some point in the next year as part of Hickman's ongoing plans for the title.
When asked whether there would be a series called Fantastic Four in a year's time, Brevoort teased: "No. No there won't be." However, he refused to elaborate further.
'Three' begins in Fantastic Four #583 published September 22.
