Written by editor Ian Brill and illustrated by Leonel Castellani, the comic book's initial arc will span four issues.
Debuting in 1988, the original cartoon followed the adventures of Disney's chipmunk duo and their companions Gadget, Monterey Jack and Zipper. The show went on to become the most-watched programme during the two-hour Disney afternoon schedule.
Speaking to CBR, Brill set the scene for the book's debut arc. "When strange animal activity happens all over the world, the Rescue Rangers have to span the globe to stop it," he said.
"This story takes full advantage of Monterey Jack's experience as a world traveller and Gadget's unique inventions. We'll see how this particular story affects our characters personally, as they work together on mission that's bigger than anything they've seen… maybe ever."
BOOM! Studios previously found success with its comic series based on the out-of-syndication Disney property Darkwing Duck. Its proposed four-issue miniseries starring the character was soon upgraded to an ongoing due to popular demand.
Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers #1 arrives in stores in December.
