Written by Ian Flynn and illustrated by Patrick Spaziante, the upcoming monthly series promises to be faithful to the source material.
"Since 1987, the enormously successful Mega Man franchise has conquered media from video games to television to manga," said Archie editor Paul Kaminski.
"Archie Comics is ready to carry on this tradition of success, holding true to the spirit of the old school with a fresh eye on Mega Man's strong potential in the world of American comics."
The comics follow the original Mega Man on a quest to foil the evil plans of his nemesis Dr. Wily. They will draw inspiration from Capcom's core series as well as the spinoffs Mega Man X, Mega Man Zero and Mega Man Legends.
Archie Comics has previously found success with its ongoing series based on Sega's Sonic The Hedgehog.
The Mega Man comic will debut in spring 2011.
