DC Comics has appointed Hank Kanalz as its senior vice president, digital.

Announced at the New York Comic Con by DC execs Jim Lee and John Rood, the move sees the former WildStorm general manager take charge of the publisher's operations in the digital sector.

"Hank has been integral to the launch of our digital comics initiative, and was an essential part of WildStorm for the past six years," said Lee. "I'm eager to have him working alongside me to blaze new trails in digital publishing and bring our comics to more readers beyond print."

Kanalz will oversee the production of all digital content across the DC Universe, Vertigo and MAD. He will further work on special digital projects and business development, such as custom publishing and e-commerce.

He has also served as a writer for DC, penning issues of The Flash and Green Lantern.
