Senior Marvel vice president, executive editor Tom Brevoort, confirmed that work on the series is ongoing on his Twitter account.
"For those who've been asking, yes, JMS is finishing The Twelve," he wrote. "#9 & 10 are done, and Chris [Weston] is waiting on script from JMS this week."
Straczynski and Weston's 12-issue series began in 2007 before seemingly being abandoned by the writer before completion.
It was revealed earlier this week that Straczynski will be taking a break from ongoing monthly titles - including his current work on Superman and Wonder Woman - to focus on original graphic novels and "the occasional high-visibility miniseries".
