Image Comics has unveiled the new Collider Entertainment title The Mission.
The comic will be written by Jon and Erich Hoeber, the creative team who produced the Red and Battleship screenplays, and illustrated by Werther Dell'Edera (Dark Entries).
It tells the story of a man who is visited by an angel and instructed to murder in the name of heaven.
"Jon and Erich have written the perfect supernatural thriller," said Collider head Marc Guggenheim. "People have questioned the existence of God and angels for millennia, but the main character of The Mission has to face the reality of this conundrum, and the twists and turns will have the readers guessing as well.
"Werther's art is a flawless companion to the story, putting into pictures the discord our hero confronts."
Amazing Spider-Man and Brothers & Sisters scribe Guggenheim founded the Collider imprint in order to bring some of Hollywood's top writing talent into the comics industry.
