Women still under-represented in comics

A recent survey posted online claims that women are still severely underrepresented in the Western comic book industry.
According to a report on Bleeding Cool, only 13% of the comic books published so far this month include contributions by women.
These statistics include the two largest publishers Marvel Comics and DC Comics, as well as both Image and Dark Horse.
The report claims that of the 727 comic books published this month, only 96 have female contributors credited on them.
The comic book industry is renowned for being traditionally male-dominated, supported by the fact that the majority of titles published by the 'Big Two' publishers are written and drawn by male creators.
Gail Simone is generally known as the most prolific female comic book writer, having received universal praise for her work on the DC Comics series Secret Six and Birds Of Prey.
