Fantagraphics Books has announced a collection of Crockett Johnson's Barnaby.

The near-complete collection will be designed by Daniel Clowes (Ghost World), claims The Comics Reporter, and will include the strip's ten-year run from 1942 to 1952.

It follows the adventures of young Barnaby Baxter and his cigar-smoking fairy godfather Jackeen J. O'Malley.

The first volume in the long-awaited collection will be released in April 2012 to coincide with the release of Philip Nel's biography The Purple Crayon and a Hole to Dig: The Lives of Crockett Johnson and Ruth Krauss.
