Best known for his work penning DC's Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters, Grell succeeds J.M. DeMatteis in the role, who parted company with the publisher in October.
"I grew up reading Mike's comics and I am both humbled and thrilled that he has agreed to join our team," said Ardden co-president Brendan Deneen. "As we head into our fourth year as a company, I couldn't think of a better person to guide us."
In addition to his Green Arrow contribution, the scribe has tackled such iconic characters as Batman, the X-Men, Iron Man and Spawn. He is also known for his creator-owned titles Jon Sable Freelance and Starslayer.
Grell will oversee Arddem's entire line, including the development of its current Flash Gordon and its relaunch of the Atlas Comics properties.
