Chris Roberson has admitted that taking over as the new writer on Superman is his dream job.

Roberson is more well-known for his genre work on miniseries like Cinderella: From Fabletown With Love and the Vertigo ongoing series iZombie, but has claimed that he is excited to be returning to superhero comics.

"Superman has been my favourite character since I was six years old, and I have more comics featuring Superman than any other single character," Roberson revealed to Newsarama. "I view the job of writing the flagship Superman title as a sacred trust."

Roberson will take over as the main writer on Superman following J. Michael Straczynski's decision to cease writing monthly comic books.

The scribe has been tasked with the challenge of completing Straczynski's 'Grounded' story arc on the title, but refuses to comment on rumours that he will continue to write for the series, suggesting that this would be up to DC Comics to decide.
