Hester is due to take over on Wonder Woman in March, following current writer J. Michael Straczynski's decision to step down from the title.
J. Michael Straczynski began writing Wonder Woman last year with issue #601 and quickly introduced a radical costume change as well as a number of smaller changes across Diana's life as a whole.
When Hester takes over writing duties on the series, his first task will be to finish up Straczynski's controversial story arc.
"What [Straczynski] has planned for Diana is very ambitious," he told Comic Vine. "I'm not sure I have the chops to pull off what he would have, but I'm giving it my full effort.
"I've been able to introduce characters, revamp old ones, even kill a few. As long as I get to the climax [Straczynski] sketched out I'm allowed to improvise, and I am!"
When asked whether the changes to Wonder Woman will be longterm, he replied: "That's almost impossible to answer without tipping my hand. The new Wonder Woman will change both very soon, and never."
Hester's first issue as writer and co-plotter begins with Wonder Woman #608, due to be published on March 9.
