Current Detective Comics writer Scott Snyder is to write a new miniseries called Batman: Gates of Gotham.
The six-issue series will explore the secret and corrupt history of the iconic Gotham City.
DC Comics' The Source announced that Snyder will be joined on the project by fellow writer Kyle Higgins and artist Trevor McCarthy.
"When a mystery as old as Gotham City itself surfaces, Batman assembles a team of his greatest detectives to investigate this startling new enigma," the comic solicitation reads. "Batman's team soon finds itself on a journey that explores different eras in Gotham's history and touches upon notable Gotham families including the Waynes, Kanes, and Elliotts."
Batman's team of detectives will include obvious choices like Red Robin, as well as more left-field members such as Owlman and I-Ching.
The miniseries will reportedly set the stage for several Batman family storylines later this year, and will incorporate some elements from Grant Morrison's "Return of Bruce Wayne" story arc.
Batman: Gates of Gotham #1 is due to be published on May 25.
