Rob Liefeld and Robert Kirkman have announced that they are teaming up for a new science fiction project titled The Infinite.
Published under Kirkman's Skybound imprint, the series follows a soldier named Bowen, who travels back in time from an apocalyptic future to prevent the destruction of the world.
"A lot of people in comic books are trying to save the world. Not a lot of them are trying to save the world after having seen it destroyed," Kirkman told USA Today.
"It's a buddy movie with yourself," Liefeld added. "We both like tech gear, James Cameron, Star Trek and Star Wars, so it's a big sci-fi fantasy epic, but it's got a lot of heart."
Liefeld is best known for co-founding Image Comics and creating Deadpool for Marvel. Kirkman is renowned for his work penning The Walking Dead.
The Infinite is slated for early August.
