The contract was revealed during the DC Universe panel at Chicago's C2E2 convention.
"I have not enjoyed myself more in my entire career," said Burnham. "Those of you reading any of the Bat-books really need to read [Batman Inc.] #6, because everybody is in it."
The artist worked on Batman and Robin #16, which was Grant Morrison's last issue on the title. His other work includes Image Comics' Officer Downe one-shot, on which he collaborated with Joe Casey.
Burnham will take over art on Morrison's Batman Inc. from issue #6, which will be released on May 4.
Others who have signed exclusive deals with DC in the past six months include Phil Jimenez, whose run on Adventure Comics began last month, and J.T. Krul, who is writing for Green Arrow and Teen Titans.
