Hester took the role of lead writer on Wonder Woman in December 2010 following J. Michael Straczynski's unexpected departure from the title halfway through the year-long story arc.
'Odyssey' sees Wonder Woman experience a number of sudden unexplained changes, ranging from a change of costume to a reduction in her age, leading to fan speculation that the arc is set outside of current DC Comics continuity.
"Everything happening to Diana is set in the DC Universe proper, but it should be obvious by the way say, Superman, reacts to her that something is wrong with her timeline," Hester explained to Newsarama. "I think I described it as an anomaly that is focused on her, like a bubble of weirdness that encases her and her history but leaves the larger DC Universe unperturbed.
"It's canon, it's in the DC Universe, but something is just a bit off about Diana's reality," the writer added.
Hester finishes 'Odyssey' in June and the writer has now revealed that his run on the title has been expanded by two issues to ensure that it flows smoothly into this summer's Flashpoint event.
"Flashpoint will follow, but it won't impinge on anything we might accomplish with 'Odyssey'," Hester clarified.
'Odyssey' will finish in June with Wonder Woman #612.
