Angel & Faith will begin later this year under the direction of Christos Gage and Rebekah Isaacs, and will feature covers from regular Buffy The Vampire Slayer contributor Jo Chen.
Exclusive Marvel Comics writer Gage said that he couldn't be happier that the company allowed him to take on the new series alongside his Marvel writing duties.
"They were happy to put an exception in my contract allowing me to write Angel & Faith," Gage explained to CBR. "From their perspective, it's not a competitive project the way a superhero book like, say, Dr. Solar would be."
Gage revealed that the events of Angel & Faith take place in the same canonical universe of the current Dark Horse Buffy series, but in completely different locations.
"There may be references to each other, and characters from one may even cross over to the other at times, but they'll essentially be separate stories in the same world, for the most part," Gage added.
Dark Horse will launch Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 9 this Fall, while Angel & Faith is scheduled to begin in August.
