The five-issue limited series will launch in July to tie-in with the release of the Marvel Studios film Captain America: The First Avengers, which stars Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull.
"The book is the definitive origin of the Red Skull, Captain America's greatest nemesis," Pak explained, according to Marvel. "So Cap fans and Marvel Universe fans definitely won't want to miss it."
The series will follow the villain as a young orphan named Johann Schmidt, who finds himself falling under the influence of the Nazi Party in Germany.
As Johann rises, we'll see how a nation so often considered the most civilized and cultured in Europe slides towards fascism and the utter horror of Nazi rule," Pak added.
Pak claims that Red Skull will serve as a companion piece to his 2008 miniseries Magneto: Testament, which followed Magneto's time as a young Jewish man growing up during World War II.
While the character apparently died in the conclusion to Captain America: Reborn last year, his daughter Sin has since taken on the Red Skull mantle, and will serve as one of the primary antagonists in this summer's Marvel Comics event Fear Itself.
Red Skull #1 will be published by Marvel Comics this July.
