The move sees the character rejoin the mainstream for the first time since 1997, when his solo title was placed under the providence of DC's Vertigo imprint.
"Having seen the plans we've got coming up for Swamp Thing, I'm incredibly excited about his return," DC editor-in-chief Bob Harras told CBR.
"Issue #23 sets in motion an amazing chain of events that impacts just about everybody and everything in the DC Universe. Brightest Day is just the beginning of an extraordinary journey for Swamp Thing."
Last year, reports surfaced that China Miéville was hired to revive Swamp Thing for Vertigo. Five issues of the series were allegedly completed before DC ordered its cancellation. The publisher confirmed that the character would be reintegrated into its core universe shortly afterwards.
Brightest Day #23 is available in stores now.
