'Uncanny X-Men' to join 'Fear Itself'

By
Marvel Comics has announced that its flagship X-Men title will join the company's latest event 'Fear Itself' with a tie-in story arc this July.

Beginning in Uncanny X-Men #540 and running for two issues, new series writer Kieron Gillen and artist Greg Land will show what happens when the events of Matt Fraction's company-wide crossover reach the X-Men on Utopia.

The story arc sees one of the X-Men's oldest enemies selected by The Serpent to become one of the so-called Worthy, avatars of the God of Fear who have each been given a mythical hammer.

"It's a disaster movie where the natural threat is the supernatural powerhouse," Gillen explained. "The whole story's built like a bomb, with each step of the Serpent's Worthy like another tick on the clock.

"'What can stop the Worthy?' is the question, and as the answer starts to become apparent, that's when the terror starts to bite."

Uncanny X-Men #540 and #541 are both scheduled to ship this July.
