Announced at this weekend's Kapow convention in London, editor Steve Wacker confirmed that the Marvel exclusive writer would be teaming up with Osborn artist Emma Rios on the three-issue miniseres.
"Word is out! Me and Emma Rios, CLOAK & DAGGER! More to come," Spencer wrote on Twitter, after the news broke.
The two characters made their debut almost thirty years ago in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #64, but have failed to sustain an ongoing series and have generally maintained a low profile in the Marvel Universe at large.
The pair featured in a special one-shot last year by former Detective Comics writer Stuart Moore, in which it was confirmed that they are not mutants as previously believed.
Cloak and Dagger will launch as a tie-in to the company's upcoming "Spider-Island" storyline in Amazing Spider-Man, following on from the couple's decision to leave the X-Men and return to New York City.
