Speaking to E! Online, the Oscar-winning Unfaithful actress - who will portray Superman's adoptive mother Martha Kent in Man of Steel - explained some plot points from the highly secretive script.
"I'm really not allowed to talk much about it, I think, but it does cover the entire range of years, from infancy on," said Lane.
"I read the script under lock and key. I was locked in a room with the script and was only allowed three hours with it. I nailed it into my memory. I'm really excited."
Lane previously starred alongside Ben Affleck in Hollywoodland, a film documenting the mysterious death of George Reeves, the star of the 1950s Adventures of Superman television show.
She has previously promised that Superman will be a "wild ride".
Michael Shannon recently joined the cast as Superman villain General Zod.
