Speaking to The Source, writers and artists from the extensive list of miniseries and one-shots discussed their involvement in the event, which some have been helping to plan since the conclusion of Blackest Night in early 2010.
"Coming out of Blackest Night, Geoff [Johns] was already hard at work developing the next universe spanning epic event…. 'Flashpoint," said Adam Schlagman (Flashpoint: Abin Sur, Flashpoint: Hal Jordan).
"The massive project centers around an emotional tale featuring the Flash and Batman. But surrounding it is what happens to the DC Universe when everything changes in a flash."
"Dan DiDio first started talking about it when we were putting together the Time Masters: Vanishing Point project," said Dan Jurgens (Booster Gold #45). "He was quite clear when he said, 'Let's start with a search for Bruce Wayne and transition to a teaser for Flashpoint.' Between that and The Flash, we wanted to give the readers a taste of what was to come."
Details of the 'Flashpoint' event remain closely guarded. It will apparently re-imagine the DC Universe following a change in its timeline.
"What I'm more pleased with is that people are wrong with the suppositions, so that will make for a lot of surprises," said artist Javi Fernandez (Flashpoint: The Outsider).
