In the publisher's final press conference of the week, it revealed that writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sara Pichelli will be working on the rebooted title. The comic will begin again as issue #1 under the 'Ultimate Universe Reborn' banner.
"This is the most nerve-wracking initiative I've ever been a part of, even more than when we launched Ultimate Spider-Man," said Bendis. "People will see from the very first page, 'Oh, this is different from what I had before.'"
The title joins Jonathan Hickman's newly announced Ultimate Comics: Ultimates and Ultimate Comics: Hawkeye and Nick Spencer's Ultimate Comics: X-Men, spinning out of the events of the 'Death of Spider-Man' storyline and Ultimate Fallout miniseries.
The series will feature a yet-to-be-revealed character who inherits the role of Spider-Man from Peter Parker.
Bendis, Hickman and Spencer are all working together on the six-issue Ultimate Fallout miniseries, which will ship weekly from July.
Ultimate Spider-Man has been headed by Bendis since the launch of the 'Ultimate' line in 2000.
