Marvel Comics has teased the launch of their much-hyped 'Dark Angel Saga' storyline, which begins in Uncanny X-Force this June from creators Rick Remender and Mark Brooks.
The story arc will see team leader Warren Worthington finally succumbing to his 'Death' persona, forcing his teammates to seek out a
permanent cure for his condition by travelling
back to the alternate reality 'The Age of Apocalypse'.
"Warren Worthington is no more, there is only Archangel!" a Marvel spokesperson said. "As their leader succumbs to the darkness within him, Uncanny X-Force has only one place left to turn for a cure - the Age of Apocalypse!
"But before they can find the one thing that can save their friend, the Uncanny X-Force must battle the Amazing X-Men!"
Uncanny X-Force has received rave reviews since its launch in October last year, and was described by Comic Book Resources as "one of the subversively smartest books Marvel puts out".
Marvel has been teasing Worthington's condition ever since his Archangel appearance in Craig Kyle and Chris Yost's X-Force #4 in 2008.
'The Dark Angel Saga' begins in Uncanny X-Force #11 on June 1.
