Namor returns in 'Fear Itself' this June

Marvel has released a preview of its upcoming miniseries Fear Itself: The Deep, which sees Atlantean king Namor become part of the company-wide event.

In the series, Namor will be forced to team up with several allies after one of his oldest enemies is selected by Fear Itself villain The Serpent to become one of his avatars.

In Fear Itself #2, the warlord Attuma was granted a mystical hammer which transformed him into the Breaker of Water, and the four-issue miniseries will follow his battle with Namor.

"It's up to Namor, Dr. Strange, the Savage She-Hulk and Loa to band together to go head to head against the newly empowered Attuma," a Marvel spokesperson said. "Are Namor and his team strong enough to defeat the Breaker of Oceans before the nightmare of Fear Itself comes spilling to the surface or will an old ally be their champion?"

The series is being created by The Damned writer Cullen Bunn and artist Lee Garbett, and will continue Namor's adventures following the cancellation of his ongoing series next month.

Fear Itself: The Deep #1 will be published by Marvel Comics on June 1.
