It was announced in March that long-time Incredible Hulks writer Greg Pak would finish his five-year run on the title with the current 'Heart of the Monster' story arc, and that the
series would end with his departure.
Incredible Hulks currently includes an expansive cast of gamma-related characters, and runs alongside Jeff Parker's Hulk series starring the Red Hulk.
"In the case of Hulk, we're coming out of a period in which we've had a veritable explosion of Hulks running around," Brevoort explained to Comic Book Resources. "So to me, it feels like the right time to scale things back and bring the focal point back down to a single character again.
"Not that this expansion of the cast was bad, we may decide to do projects featuring some of these other guys as we move ahead as well."
While there has been no announcement on whether Marvel is planning a relaunch of Incredible Hulk, editor Mark Paniccia suggested it would depend on current event Fear Itself.
"Possibly," Paniccia said, regarding a new Hulk series. "Depending on if he makes it out of Fear Itself okay."
Pak will end his run with the over-sized Incredible Hulks #635 this August.
