Non-superhero titles performed well in the generally weak market during Q1, according to the report in ICv2's Internal Correspondence #75.
Particularly successful series included Image Comics' The Walking Dead, Chew and Morning Glories, and Oni Press's Scott Pilgrim and The Sixth Gun.
The ongoing fall in manga sales was arrested in the quarter, with Naruto as the bestselling property followed by Vampire Knight and Bleach.
Scott Pilgrim topped the Fiction and Reality Properties list and The Walking Dead was #1 in the Top 10 Genre Graphic Novel Properties chart.
In the Superhero Graphic Novel Properties list, DC and Marvel Comics took five slots each, with DC occupying five of the top six positions. Batman came first followed by Superman and The Avengers.
A board game based on The Walking Dead was announced earlier this month and is due for release in late summer.
The TV show has been nominated for six prizes at the Saturn Awards, which are due to take place in June.
